Cosmetic Dermatology Medical Assistant

Spring Street Dermatology

High volume medical, procedural, and cosmetic dermatology practice is seeking an experienced senior medical assistant for full-time positions, Monday-Wednesday, and Friday between our downtown and uptown location.

REQUIRMENTS

-One year dermatology experience

-EMR knowledge of Modernizing Medicine EMA is a plus

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

*Duties may include, but not limited to all or some of the following.

  • Functions as a medical assistant supporting both location when medical director is not in office
  • Provides support to medical director- Monday- Wednesday at our SOHO location and Fridays at 58th Street from 9A-7:30P
  • Providing exceptional patient care in accordance with and within scope of practice of the position.
  • Fulfilling patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking providers schedule to plan for the day, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients as needed with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, and answering Klaras for Dr.Palep
  • Assisting with basic patient care and medical procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice.
  • Clinical duties include set-up of examination room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by the practice and infection control policies, and instructing patients on surgical / cosmetic procedures, such as Toxin / Filler, laser treatments, skin tag removals, biopsies, excisions, chemical peels, light therapy, liquid nitrogen procedures, and several other procedures that are performed.
  • Sterilization of medical instruments and ensuring all exam rooms are appropriately stocked and turned over
  • Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations.
  • Complying with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infections body fluids, chemical disinfectants,

radiation and other hazardous substances.

  • Ensuring Department of Health (DOH) compliance of site lab and exam rooms which may include but is not limited to: logbook maintenance, checking for expired medications and supplies, proper handling of specimen etc.
  • Assisting in the maintenance, accountability and accuracy of patient medical charts within the practice EHR and PM systems (Nextgen / EMA) and required paper forms (procedure consent forms, financial responsibility forms, test results, aftercare care forms).
  • May be responsible for photographing and recording patient photographs into EMR.
  • May be required to transcribe notes for physicians.
  • May be required to promote cosmetic procedures and products sold.
  • May be required to perform proficient phlebotomy duties
  • Helping maintain a courteous and professional working environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • A High School Degree or GED.
  • 1-2 Years working in the specialty of Dermatology
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program, with Certified (CM) Medical Assistant or extensive experience working in Cosmetic Dermatology
  • Excellent communication and bedside manner.
  • Flexible with full-time work schedule, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Computer Proficiency required.
  • Professional and positive demeanor attitude, ability to inspire the same in others.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work and thrive in a continuously evolving environment

Salary: $20-$23/hour

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position will require long shifts, weekend (will depend on schedule necessary at facility), closing, and opening shifts. Must work on-site.

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and stand for periods of time. Heavy computer use required. This role may require from time to time lifting heavy objects on a regular basis, doing repetitive tasks with few breaks, and requiring light cleaning.
