Busy Dermatology and Cosmetic practice seeking a highly motivated nurse to assist in outstanding care to our patients. We are one of the premier cosmetic dermatology centers in the nation and view patient safety and customer service of the upmost importance.  May need to provide concierge services in addition to typical nursing responsibilities such as meet and greet the patient on arrival and escort patients in an out of patient rooms, serve water, coffee as requested etc.

Importantly, this position is not for a nurse looking to treat patients independently but instead to assist board certified dermatologists perform procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Duties may include but are not limited to all or some of the following.

Patient Care

  • Responsible for assisting the physician (s) in the care of patients to assure optimal medical care. Serves as a liaison between patient and doctor
  • Prepares patient for physical examination/surgery
  • Assists physician(s) in the physical examination/surgery of the patient
  • Takes patient histories. Obtains and documents information relating to drug allergies in prominent place on the label located on the front of the chart and on the patient history form
  • Prepares patients for surgical procedures
  • Sets up surgical room for appropriate procedure (s)
  • Assists physician (s) with surgical procedure (s)
  • Obtains patient consent form/authorization before surgery
  • Responsible for patient education. Hands out educational pamphlets, gives care instructions verbally. Hands out postoperative instruction sheets and preoperative instruction sheets
  • Answers patient questions on telephone and take written notes of conversation
  • Gives injections/local anesthesia per physician(s) instruction
  • Maintains clean, safe, and well stocked examination rooms for patient care at all times. Participates in monthly inventory counts as needed
  • Keeps necessary logs documentation for patient recalls
  • Photographing and recording patient photographs
  • Postoperative calls and liaison between physician (s) and patient
  • Other duties, as deemed necessary

 

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Assist in general housekeeping duties including weekly scrub down of all patient examination rooms, etc.
  • Preceptor to new nursing personnel, as needed
  • Sterilizes surgical instruments using appropriate method, e.g., steam, chemical, ultrasound, etc...
  • Assist in scheduling patients for lab tests with outside diagnostic centers or hospitals
  • Completion/closing of Charts in medical record as appropriate
  • Calls in prescriptions per physician(s) instruction
  • Must attend staff meetings and scheduled in-service programs
  • Regularly organize drugs and regularly properly dispose of expired drug samples
  • Orders medical/surgical supplies as necessary to maintain a well-stocked clinical area as instructed by supervisor
  • Always maintain a professional appearance
  • Arrive at work on time, as scheduled

JOB RELATIONSHIP

  • Supervises other employees as needed

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Graduation form RN/LPN Program
  • Current CPR & BCLS certification
  • Current license or certification
  • Continuing education activity
  • Positive, welcoming, and can-do attitude with patients and other practice team members
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a physician’s office. Dermatology experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and a team player
  • Computer Proficiency and superior keyboarding skills (approximately 55 wpm)
  • Flexible/adaptable nature to work in a fast paced and continuously evolving environment
  • Passion for helping others in a healthcare environment
  • Ability to effectively interact with providers, patients, and other staff members
  • Electronic Medica Records, (EMR) experience preferred
  • Dermatology or laser training preferred

Salary: $40-$50/Hour

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position will require long shifts, weekend (will depend on schedule necessary at facility), closing, and opening shifts. Must work on-site.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and stand for periods of time. Heavy computer use required. This role may require from time to time lifting heavy objects on a regular basis, doing repetitive tasks with few breaks, and requiring light cleaning.
