As a vascular technologist you will aid in the diagnosis and treatment of vein-related conditions. Vascular technologists play a critical role in providing comprehensive patient care and contributing to successful vein treatments in a medical setting. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Educate patients about the procedure, its benefits, and potential risks.
  • Perform detailed ultrasound examination of patient’s superficial and deep veins to create a venous flow map for purposes of recommending a safe and effective treatment plan.
  • Perform routine tests such as: Peripheral venous duplex studies including: DVT study, reflux study, lower extremity vein mapping. 
  • Assist physician during image guided injection treatment session with the appropriate directions for needle placement.
  • Assist physician in endovenous ablation treatment, with applicable imaging for catheter placement and withdrawal.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient and explain the test that will be performed.
  • Perform follow-up ultrasound examinations to monitor the progress of patients who have undergone vein treatment or those with a history of DVT, per physician’s orders.
  • Follow up as required and appropriate documentation as it relates to patient treatment or otherwise directed by physician orders.

Qualifications
  • Prior Venous Insufficiency experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in using ultrasound equipment and recording ultrasound images accurately for physician’s interpretation.
  • Experience with sterile technique.
  • A strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, physics, and medical terminology. 
  • Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in the field of vein-care, highly preferred.
  • Capability to manage and lead compliance with minimal direction. Accuracy in assessment and documentation of credentials.
  • Able to multitask successfully and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • Attention to detail.

Applicants must possess strong interpersonal skills in order to develop trust and strong relationships with our patients. You should be able to work well both independently and in a team environment. Basic knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instruments is required. Some basic familiarity with insurance guidelines, insurance pre-authorizations, patient scheduling, and EMR is helpful in order to work closely with front-office clinical staff. Other ancillary duties will include: ordering supplies, maintaining charts, contacting patients, assisting the physician in performing procedures, and preparing treatment rooms.

Education:
  • Certificate of Completion from an accredited Ultrasound program.
  • Active Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) and in good standing.

Additional Information
  • This position is in office, on-site.  
  • No nights, no on-call, no weekends. 

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
  • Standing during vein procedures.
